Complete Convenient Care in Brookline: CEREC Same Day Crowns!
Brookline Dental Specialists is pleased to announce our newest technology: CEREC Primescan! With the CEREC digital workflow in our office we offer same-day crowns and partial crowns, saving you time and trips to the dentist.
CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, or CEramin REConstruction. Developed in Germany, CEREC technology has been around for more than 35 years. Dentsply Sirona, the company currently behind CEREC, is constantly improving the CEREC technology, making it one of the most advanced dental technologies available today.
The biggest advantage of CEREC is convenience. With CEREC, BDS is now able to offer same-day crowns and partial crowns in just one visit. Patients no longer need to endure messy impression molds, temporary crowns, the wait time for a lab to create and return a crown, or the inconvenience of a second visit for crown placement. With CEREC, we are able to create a precise, custom crown right in our office while you wait. Patients can even watch their crown being created in the CEREC milling machine, which features a display window.
To create crowns with CEREC, we take a comprehensive digital scan of your mouth, which generates a three-dimensional model in the advanced CEREC computer software. Using this digital model, the CEREC milling unit fabricates your custom crown. Because these crowns are based on the more detailed modeling of your mouth, CEREC is able to create an extremely accurate crown for a precise fit and fewer adjustments.
Another advantage of CEREC crowns is that they contain no metal. While traditional crowns are composed of pressed ceramic and metal, CEREC crowns are made from a single block of ceramic material. If you have older crowns, you know that over time, the metal base can become visible along the gumline, which can lead to unsightly discoloration. As they are made entirely of tooth-colored ceramic, CEREC crowns will never cause the issues that crowns containing metal can cause.
In addition to a superior fit, CEREC crowns look more natural than traditional crowns. The color of the CEREC ceramic is closer to the natural color of your teeth, making CEREC crowns practically unnoticeable next to your natural teeth. This works particularly well for partial crowns or crown restorations, which were often made entirely of metal in the past, making dental work more obvious within the mouth.
CEREC crowns are durable and long-lasting. With proper home dental hygiene care and regular dental cleanings, these crowns can last ten to fifteen years or more. You can ensure the longevity of your CEREC crown by choosing an experienced CEREC dentist like BDS, wearing a nightguard if you tend to grind your teeth, avoid chewing on hard objects like ice or pens, and limiting your intake of stain-causing food and beverages, like coffee and red wine.
At BDS, we respect how busy life is for everyone; your days filled with work and other commitments. With our new CEREC technology, we are now able to offer our patients high-quality, long-lasting, custom crowns and partial crowns in one convenient visit! If you are looking for an advanced, multi-specialty dental practice, give us a call today. We always welcome new patients and look forward to seeing your smile!
