Dental Implants at Brookline Dental Specialists
Losing a tooth is can be a very stressful experience for just about anyone! Many of our adult patients with missing teeth describe a loss of confidence and comfort when they interact with others. Missing teeth can also dramatically impact a person’s ability to eat and chew normally. Dental implants offer a lot of advantages over traditional crown and bridge dentistry. Our dental team can provide a highly customized dental implant treatment plan that will be just right for you.
Dental implants are designed to replace missing teeth. The implant becomes the root for your missing tooth and provides a base for a customized crown that is made to look and feel just like a natural tooth. One big advantage to dental implants over other restorative options is that they only affect the area in which they are placed; they don’t require the use of neighboring healthy teeth for support, like bridges or partial dentures.
Single Tooth and Multi Tooth Implants
Single Implants are created to replace an individual missing tooth or multiple teeth depending on your need and your treatment plan. Single tooth replacement implants are created to match the tooth that was lost. A single implant supports a single abutment and crown. Multiple Tooth Implants are created to replace more than one missing tooth. There are many options for these types of implants, ranging from implant-supported bridges, where multiple implants are connected by a bridge to fill multiple spaces, to implant-retained dentures, where anywhere from two to six implants are used to help support and retain a removable denture. In our practice, we highly recommend dental implants for our patients to replace missing teeth, to improve their overall quality of life, prevent bone loss and give them a more confident healthy smile!
